Sophie makes sculpture from clay, willow and other materials which suit her ideas. She casts some of her own work as well as working with foundries. People, animals, dancers and words are among her subjects, her work is figurative,  formal and emotional.

Sophie studied  at Winchester School of Art and graduated in 1979. Since then she has continued to make sculpture. Her work has included  over 30 portrait commissions,  architectural details for historic house renovations and  several works for national television. In addition to following her own development as an artist, between 1988 and 2005 she designed garden statuary for several leading manufacturers. She has been employed in arts education in a number of roles including residencies, arts workshops for serious offenders and teaching Art and Design in Further Education. Sophie acts as a mentor and creative industries business advisor,  and teaches sculpture.
